Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will require a constant internet connection

More details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which was showcased yesterday at the Xbox Games Showcase, have surfaced online. It has been revealed that the game will require a constant internet connection.

According to Activision, online access is necessary for «texture streaming» — it will be used in all modes, including the story campaign.

To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game's overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. This means you'll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you're on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.

The developers also emphasized that split-screen multiplayer will only be supported on current-generation consoles. Versions for PS4 and Xbox One will lack this feature.

Previously, information surfaced online that Black Ops 6 will weigh around 300 GB. The host of the X-account CharlieIntel noted that this is the entire Call of Duty client, which will include not only the new part but also Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.

The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is scheduled for October 25.
