Phil Spencer confirmed the development of a portable Xbox and discussed the release of exclusives on other consoles

Bloomberg published an interview with Phil Spencer. The head of Xbox officially confirmed the development of a portable console and discussed other important points.

Currently, engineers are actively working on prototypes and studying the portable console market. The device will be released only in a few years, so you should not expect any major announcements yet.

Spencer also talked about the policy of releasing exclusives on third-party platforms. The top manager is pleased with the initial results (previously the company ported Hi-Fi Rush and other projects) and believes that there are no franchises in the Xbox portfolio that could not appear on Sony and Nintendo devices. However, it is too early to talk about porting the Halo series.

Discussing the business in general, Spencer stated that he looks to the future with optimism and continues to consider the possibility of acquiring new studios. This is especially true for teams from China, although there are no major deals planned at the moment.

I feel pretty good about where this industry is going. To reach new players, we need to be creative and adaptive of new business models, new devices, new ways of access. We're not going to grow the market with $1,000 consoles.
