Michael Futter, co-founder of F-Squared, says Sony's plan to move PlayStation releases away from discs is "an extremely anti-consumer decision" that strips players of ownership and long-term access. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it will stop producing physical discs for all new PlayStation games at the end of 2027. From January 2028, new PlayStation releases will be available only in digital formats, and boxed retail versions, if sold, will include a download code instead of a disc. -
