Hardware leaker Kepler_L2 said on NeoGAF that the PlayStation 6 and Microsoft's next Xbox, codenamed Helix, have already taped out, a milestone that would put the chips near the end of design work and move both consoles closer to production.
The report says the PS6 chip could deliver 40 TFLOPS of compute, while Helix could reach 56 TFLOPS. It also suggests a wider gap between PS6 and PS5 than raw teraflops alone might imply. According to the report, Sony's next console could offer about twice the raw power of PS5, with ray tracing hardware around 12 times faster and AI compute 50 to 70 times faster. -
