Sony has released a new update for the PlayStation Portal (a remote play device) that adds the ability to stream games from the PS Plus catalog via the cloud. Previously, gamers could only stream games from their PS5 over Wi-Fi. This new feature is currently available in beta.
Update Highlights:
- Adjust speaker output audio settings to reduce volume at the lowest level;
- Ability to adjust PlayStation Link device settings from the PS Portal settings menu, allowing for optimized volume control.
Beta Features:
- Streaming of over 120 games (including Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart) from the PS Plus catalog via cloud streaming;
- Streaming in 1080p and 60 FPS;
- Enhanced features of the DualSense wireless controller;
- PlayStation Plus Cloud Storage. Save data and game progress can be stored up to 100 GB and will automatically sync with the PS5 console.
To access the new feature, a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription is required. According to Sony, an internet speed of at least 7 Mbps is needed for 720p streaming (or 13 Mbps for 1080p).
Additionally, some features (game trials, voice chat, game invites, 3D audio, and in-game purchases) are not available for cloud streaming in the beta version.
Earlier this month, Sony released the PS5 Pro console.
