EGS is giving away Control for free

The Epic Games Store's eighth holiday giveaway has kicked off, and while rumors of Sid Meier's Civilization 6: Platinum Edition being free didn't pan out, the new mystery title is Control.
Control is a third-person action game widely considered one of the best games of 2019. Developed by Remedy Entertainment, known for the Max Payne and Alan Wake series, Control boasts an 88% positive rating on Steam and a score of 84/100 on OpenCritic. It received 8 nominations at The Game Awards 2019, ultimately winning in one category.
It's worth noting that a sequel is in development. In late November, the developers announced that the second installment will be an action game with RPG elements, slated for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
