A literal firestorm erupted on the subreddit r/pcmasterrace. A user named lommelinn shared a shocking experience: their Gigabyte gaming mouse caught fire and nearly caused a full-blown house fire.

Early in the morning, lommelinn noticed the smell of smoke and rushed to their room, only to find their mouse burning a hole in the desk. The fire was extinguished, but not before the room suffered damage, with black soot covering everything.

The mouse itself was almost completely melted. Another Reddit user speculated that a short circuit or defective component might be to blame.

The post quickly went viral, gathering 44,000 upvotes in less than a day. Gigabyte responded to the incident, promising an investigation:
