AOC Unveils an Affordable High-Refresh-Rate Gaming Monitor

AOC is expanding its gaming monitor lineup with the introduction of two new models—the Q27G2S (Classic Edition) and Q27G2S/D (Full Blood Edition). These displays combine high resolution, smooth visuals, and cutting-edge technology, making them an optimal choice for gamers at an affordable price.

The monitors feature a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560×1440 resolution, delivering 131% sRGB coverage and pseudo-10-bit color depth (8-bit + FRC). With a 155Hz refresh rate and a 1ms MPRT response time, they are well-suited for fast-paced gaming, while Adaptive-Sync and G-SYNC support eliminate screen artifacts. The brightness reaches 350 nits, complemented by a basic HDR mode, though no HDR400 certification is present.

The Q27G2S/D variant, which has yet to hit the market, boasts enhanced specifications. Its refresh rate is increased to 170Hz, and response time is reduced to 1ms GTG (a true measurement, not an interpolated one). This model is HDR400-certified, pushing peak HDR brightness to 400 nits, although its sRGB coverage is slightly lower at 126%. Compatibility has also been improved with DisplayPort 1.4 replacing 1.2 and expanded synchronization support for both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards.

Both models come with an ergonomic stand featuring height, tilt, and swivel adjustments, as well as VESA mount support. Connectivity includes dual HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort (version varies by model), and an audio jack. AOC emphasizes the global launch of these monitors, making them available not only in Asia but also in the US, India, and across Europe—an unusual move for budget-friendly displays. The Q27G2S (Classic Edition) is priced at $138, while the "Full Blood" Q27G2S/D is set for an official announcement at the end of the quarter, with a price expected to be $30–50 higher.
