AMD Denies Inflated Pricing for RX 9070 XT

AMD has officially responded to the speculation surrounding the pricing of its upcoming RX 9000 series graphics cards, denying claims that the flagship RX 9070 XT model will start at $899.

Earlier, a Bulgarian retailer suggested that the new card would be $266 more expensive than the current RX 7900 XT, sparking rumors of a significant price hike. However, Frank Azor, AMD's Chief Gaming Officer, firmly addressed these claims on social media, refuting the alleged pricing.

Insiders speculate that the delay in the RX 9000 series announcement, originally scheduled for January 23, is due to AMD reevaluating its pricing strategy in response to aggressive moves by competitors. Intel, with its $249 ArcB580, and Nvidia, settingthe RTX 5070Ti at $749, are putting pressure on AMD to strike a balance between performance and cost. AMD is keeping details under wraps, refusing to disclose official information until March, even though partners have already received the first batches of the new cards.

Experts believe AMD is working to avoid shortages by building up initial stock to counter scalpers. Analysts recommend holding off on upgrading graphics cards until late February or early March, when competing models like Nvidia's RTX 5070/Ti and AMD's RX 9000 series are expected to hit the market. This will allow consumers to compare independent reviews and make an informed decision.
