Epic Games Shares 2024 Store Statistics

In 2024, Epic Games Store solidified its position as a major player in the digital game distribution market. The company released its annual report, highlighting significant user base expansion, rising player engagement, and the introduction of numerous new features.
The number of registered Epic Games Store users on PC reached 295 million, an increase of 25 million compared to 2023. Across the broader Epic ecosystem—including mobile platforms and partner services—total accounts grew to 898 million, up by 94 million year-over-year. While monthly active users saw a slight decline (74 million compared to 75 million in 2023), overall player engagement continued to rise. Time spent in third-party games increased by 11%, climbing from 2.41 billion to 2.68 billion hours.
Epic Games Store’s financial results were equally impressive. Total spending, including Epic’s own projects, reached $1.09 billion, marking a 15% increase from 2023. However, user spending on third-party games dropped by 18% to $255 million. A key factor driving growth was Epic’s revenue-sharing program, which allows developers to retain 100% of their earnings for the first six months after a game’s release.
2024 was also a milestone year for Epic Games Store in the mobile sector. The store launched globally on Android and became available on iOS in the European Union. Users gained access to free games and new features, including automatic updates and cross-device account synchronization.
Other notable additions included EA Play subscription integration, a beta version of expanded game search powered by the Internet Game Database, and support for third-party payment systems in live-service games. The free game giveaway program remained one of the store’s most popular features, with 89 free games offered in 2024. Epic confirmed that the tradition will continue into 2025. The company also plans to expand its catalog of non-gaming apps and enhance tools for mobile game developers.
Among the year’s biggest hits were Genshin Impact, Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto V, Alan Wake 2, and Black Myth: Wukong. These titles not only attracted millions of players but also became symbols of the Epic Games Store ecosystem’s success.
Epic Games Store continues to strengthen its position by offering unique opportunities for both players and developers. With a growing user base, the adoption of new technologies, and ambitious plans for the future, the company is proving that its ecosystem is more than just a store—it’s an entire universe for the gaming community.
