Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature Dock with “Smart” Cooling — Render Leak

New images of the Nintendo Switch 2 dock, posted on the gaming forum Famiboards, have stirred excitement among fans. The source of the leak, who accurately predicted the console's design back in 2023, this time showcased CAD renders of the accessory featuring unexpected engineering solutions.
According to the materials, the base of the dock includes an improved ventilation system — likely Nintendo’s response to overheating issues in previous models. The leak also confirmed the 60-watt charging capability for the device. However, older Switch adapters won’t be able to fully power the console in TV mode, although slow charging in handheld mode will still be possible.
In a recent interview, company president Shuntaro Furukawa emphasized that the price of the Switch 2 would be “balanced,” with initial stock secured against scalpers. This is particularly relevant ahead of the console’s scheduled reveal on April 2, where a new Mario Kart installment, teased earlier, is also expected to debut.
The leaks not only reveal technical details but also hint at Nintendo’s strategy of combining power with ergonomics. The enhanced cooling system suggests more powerful hardware, while strict anti-resale measures indicate a desire to avoid the issues faced by the PS5 launch in 2020. More specifics, including exact specs and the final design, will be unveiled after the official presentation. Fans are left wondering whether the dock will be sold separately or included as part of the standard package.
