Rugged smartphone with built-in projector and a battery that lasts a week unveiled

At MWC 2025, Chinese brand Doogee unveiled a lineup of ultra-rugged smartphones, with the V Max Play standing out as the most versatile. This device doesn’t just survive extreme conditions — it transforms the wilderness into a multimedia zone with its unique features.

The V Max Play is the world’s first rugged smartphone with a built-in projector. Its 480p LED module with autofocus can project movies or presentations onto uneven surfaces — from a tent wall to a rock face. But that’s not all: the device features a dual camping flashlight system with adjustable brightness and RGB lighting, allowing you to set the mood at camp or signal for help in an emergency.

At the heart of the device is a massive 22,000 mAh battery, capable of lasting up to a week in standby mode. For emergencies, it supports 33W fast charging and 15W reverse wireless charging — perfect for reviving a friend’s dead phone. This makes the V Max Play not just a smartphone but a mobile power station.

The idea of projector-equipped smartphones, like the Samsung Galaxy Beam from 2012, was long considered niche. However, inspired by the success of the Oukitel WP100 and 8849 Tank 2 Pro, Doogee has reimagined the concept by adding IP68-rated water and dust resistance and military-grade durability (MIL-STD-810H). This is no fragile gadget — it’s a device built to perform in almost any environment.

The V Max Play runs on a 4nm MediaTek MT7300 processor with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Its 6.78" FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate remains readable even under direct sunlight. The camera setup includes a 108MP main sensor, a 20MP night vision lens, and a macro lens. Android 14 with AI-powered features simplifies photo editing, document processing, and task automation. Pricing and availability details have yet to be announced, but it’s clear that the V Max Play offers a compelling alternative to buying a separate projector, power bank, and rugged phone.
