Ubisoft Creates $4.3 Billion Subsidiary, Tencent Takes Stake

Ubisoft has announced the creation of a new subsidiary valued at $4.3 billion, which will house all of the French publisher's key brands, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

The name of the new company has not yet been revealed. Yves Guillemot will remain as its head. Chinese tech giant Tencent will acquire a 25% stake in the company, investing €1.16 billion. Guillemot described the deal as the beginning of a new chapter for Ubisoft, and it is expected to close by the end of 2025.

Ubisoft also revealed that Assassin's Creed Shadows has seen over three million players log in, with those players racking up over 40 million hours of playtime. Additionally, the company announced a mobile version of the metroidvania Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which is set to launch on April 14th for Android and iOS.
