Artist Shows Photorealistic Sovngarde from Skyrim on Unreal Engine 5

Digital artist Leo Torres has shared another work on The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. This time, he shared his vision of Sovngarde, the afterlife of the Nords, recreating the location on Unreal Engine 5.

In the game, this plane of Aetherius was presented as a rather small location with a majestic common house for fallen Nord warriors. The Dovahkiin could get here during the main quest — the World Eater Alduin escaped to Sovngarde after the battle with the main character to feed on the souls of the dead. The final battle with the dragon took place here with the support of ancient heroes.

Leo Torres decided to make Sovngarde more like an afterlife, where thousands of dead Nords gathered. He expanded the scale of the location and even added over 2,500 dynamic point lights to make the layout look more alive and populated.

YouTube viewers were also delighted with the new look at the location from the game, not without making jokes about the original dimensions of Sovngarde:

Shor's Bones ! It's big enough for at least 12 NPC's I reckon.

I will never stop saying I want a game of this scale and quality.

I'd like to imagine Sovngarde as a place with a single gigantic meadhall with all the heroes from the past, but this one's good too.

Still praying for your creations to be in a full playable game. Whether Bethesda's name is slapped on it or not, and you somehow release it independently. Either way we need it.

Earlier, Leo Torres recreated several other recognizable places and cities from TES 5: Skyrim, including Helgen, the High Hrothgar monastery, the port in the north of Skyrim Dunstar and several other locations.
