ASUS Unveils New Gaming Monitor with 280Hz Refresh Rate and Unique Ergonomics

ASUS has unveiled its latest offering for gamers—the ROG STRIX XG258QMG. This 24.5-inch monitor features a TN panel with a Full HD resolution (1920×1080), delivering an impressive 280Hz refresh rate and a lightning-fast 0.2ms (GtG) response time. With a peak brightness of 400 nits and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, it ensures excellent visibility even in dark scenes. The monitor also boasts 120% sRGB coverage and factory calibration for precise color accuracy.

The XG258QMG supports ASUS’s proprietary ELMB-SYNC technology, which combines motion blur reduction with adaptive sync. Paired with AMD FreeSync Premium and variable refresh rate (VRR) support, it eliminates screen artifacts, providing smooth gameplay in both AAA titles and competitive esports.

One of the standout features of this model is its unconventional stand. In addition to height, tilt, and swivel adjustments—including a portrait mode—the stand includes a built-in slot for securing a smartphone. This thoughtful addition makes it a great choice for streamers who like to keep an eye on chat while gaming.

Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a 3.5mm audio jack. According to ASUS, the XG258QMG is aimed at professional gamers who demand ultra-fast response times, as well as casual players looking for multimedia versatility. The monitor is already available in China at a starting price of $265, with global availability expected soon.
