Apple Gears Up to Enter Foldable Device Market

Apple, known for its secrecy around innovation, is inching closer to unveiling its long-rumored foldable devices. According to new intel, two products—a bendable smartphone and a transformable tablet—have entered a critical phase of production preparation at Foxconn factories. Sources suggest mass production won’t begin until mid-2026, with the first prototypes expected as early as April 2025.

Analyst Jeff Pu, citing internal sources, shared key details:

  • The foldable iPhone will feature a flexible screen nearing 8 inches, doubling the size of current models.
  • The 19-inch iPad, when unfolded, will become the largest in Apple’s lineup, blending tablet functionality with a portable monitor.

Though Pu didn’t name the devices, industry experts link them to Apple’s previously patented FoldPad and FlexVision concepts. Despite Apple’s ambitious roadmap, the launch has been delayed to 2026–2027 due to technical hurdles and the company’s decision to prioritize integrating AI-powered Siri features by 2025—a move that could slow iPhone sales in the interim. The devices are expected to debut at a standalone event, highlighting their "revolutionary" design.
