Donat, gladiator battles and open world: details of the canceled Call of Duty Zombies
Former Call of Duty developer Raven Software spoke about the canceled Call of Duty Zombies project. The game was developed from 2011 to 2012 and was independent from the rest of the series.
Michael Gummelt gave an interview to the author of the YouTube channel Glitching Queen, in which he talked about Call of Duty Zombies. According to the creators, the game was planned for one to four people. Users found themselves in a Mad Max-style gladiatorial arena, fighting off zombies round after round. After this, you could escape from the location and go explore the open world.
Also in the game should have been:
- Microtransactions — for example, paid skins;
- Character customization and progression;
- Waves of opponents in the open world;
- Seasons with new content;
- Constant support and updates.
It is likely that Treyarch canceled the game due to fears of competition, since the zombie mode had already appeared previously in Call of Duty: World at War.
Let us remind you that the new Call of Duty will most likely be shown in June at the Xbox Showcase. The game was subtitled Black Ops Gulf War.
