Gameplay trailer for The Spirit of the Samurai released — a soulslike action game featuring a samurai and a warrior cat

Publisher Kwalee and developer Digital Mind Games have unveiled the gameplay trailer for their upcoming action game, The Spirit of the Samurai, which resembles a 2D version of Dark Souls set in Japan.

The main protagonist is the brave samurai Takeshi, who must save his village from the undead and dark creatures led by a powerful oni demon. Interestingly, players can also control a kodama spirit and a warrior cat.

«Repel the demon onslaught using ancient Japanese weapons: the famous katana, the versatile yari spear, and the superior bow. On your way to the oni's castle, unleash devastating special attacks and combos unique to each character», — reads the description.

Key features include a detailed world inspired by Japanese folklore, puppet animations, meticulously designed levels with numerous secrets, adaptive enemy AI making battles unique, and an in-game combo editor.

The Spirit of the Samurai is set to release on December 12 on Steam. The game will also be available on the Epic Games Store.
