A fan-made sequel with new maps, monsters and heroes has been released for Doom 2

A modder with the nickname camaxide has released his «magnum opus» in the form of a sequel to the original Doom 2, which he worked on for 11 years. Now fans can go through a single-player campaign designed for 20 hours, fight new monsters and even compete in co-op.

The addon is a direct continuation of Doom 2, which was released exactly 30 years ago. It includes two new chapters, several levels, a co-op mode, 36 original music tracks, as well as several new characters to play for — there is even a girl. The developer also added additional weapons and monsters that were not in the original. As the modder himself writes, the fan-made sequel is designed for two dozen hours of gameplay and is optimized for modern systems.

To install the mod, you will need the original version of Doom 2. You can download it from this link. You will also need GZDoom version 4.12.0 or higher.

Earlier, in honor of the 30th anniversary of Doom 2, the developers released a pack of free wallpapers with Doomguy for smartphones. Also, Amazon Prime Gaming began developing the PC version of Doom Eternal.
