NVIDIA Unveils New DLSS 4 Technology and Highlights Its Key Features
Alongside the new RTX 50 graphics cards, NVIDIA introduced DLSS 4 technology at CES 2025, featuring an enhanced AI capable of generating multiple frames simultaneously.
According to NVIDIA, DLSS 4 can boost gaming performance up to eight times compared to not using the technology. A screenshot shows that FPS has doubled compared to DLSS 3.5.
The new DLSS Multi Frame Generation technology (supported only by RTX 50 graphics cards) reportedly allows for the generation of up to three additional frames for every rendered frame.
For instance, in Hogwarts Legacy, enabling DLSS 4 can increase FPS by 5.6 times.
NVIDIA has already released a video demonstrating how DLSS 4 enhances performance in Dune: Awakening running on a system with an RTX 5090 graphics card. The average frame rate was between 250-300 FPS.
RTX 50 graphics cards will receive the full DLSS 4 experience (with all the new features). Previous generations will receive support for the technology with limited functionality.
Moreover, games like Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Star Wars Outlaws will support DLSS Multi Frame Generation at the launch of the RTX 50. Other games (Black Myth: Wukong, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, and more) will receive this technology later.
