Will Smith Finally Becomes Neo in The Matrix—Stops Bullets in a New Music Video

Will Smith has finally revealed the mysterious Matrix-themed project he had been teasing since early January. It turned out to be a music video for his new song Beautiful Scars, recorded in collaboration with rapper Big Sean.

The video opens with Smith confessing that he still regrets turning down the role of Neo. Suddenly, Morpheus (played by Big Sean) appears before him, offering the iconic choice: the blue pill will return him to reality, while the red pill will transport him to a world where he actually starred in The Matrix. But Smith chooses a third option—he swallows both pills.

From there, the artists perform in iconic Matrix settings. Just like Keanu Reeves, Smith learns karate, fires an Uzi, and dodges bullets in slow motion, mimicking the legendary action sequences from the Wachowskis’ film.

Alongside the song, Smith also announced a new album, Based on a True Story, set to release in March. His last studio album, Lost and Found, came out in 2005.
