Best Mods for BeamNG.drive: Maps, Airplanes and Foreign Cars
The gaming community actively expands the capabilities of BeamNG.drive through user modifications. If you are tired of standard cars and racing tracks, use our list of the best mods for new cars, maps, and other diverse content.
Below we will explain in detail how to install modifications on BeamNG.drive. And then we will present 15 mods for iconic Russian cars, World War II airplanes, as well as unusual maps with racing tracks and picturesque locations from around the world.
How to Install Mods on BeamNG Drive
- Download the selected mod for BeamNG.drive as a Zip archive.
- Unzip its contents.
- Open C:\Users\User\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods.
- Move all mod files to the mods folder.
- Launch the game and check that everything is installed correctly.
In rare cases, the installation is done differently. For example, when a mod edits an existing car rather than adding a new one. In that case, the contents of the archive need to be unpacked into the vehicles or levels folder (in the case of a map). We will indicate in the mod comments if this is necessary.
Utah Extra
The modification adds a large and detailed map in the style of the state of Utah from the USA to BeamNG.drive. The author has placed many unusual tracks for car testing in the mountainous desert. There are tracks for drifting and karting, high-speed tracks, mud pits, off-road, and ramps. And for convenient movement, a teleport to different points has been added. In short, all the conditions to test any car.
Mount Coot-tha
In real life, not every track allows you to speed up and just enjoy the ride. That is why the author of the Mount Coot-tha modification added a road near his home in Australia to the game. No more cyclists on the roadside, police behind bushes, and speed limits. Just 10 kilometers of picturesque mountain road surrounded by dense forest.
Roane County, Tennessee, USA
The modification adds one of the largest and most detailed maps in the game — a copy of Roane County, Tennessee. 175 square miles of varied terrain with cities, highways, working traffic lights, and signs. The map continues to be periodically updated, with improved picture quality, city construction, and AI enhancements.
American Road
The American Road map, as the name suggests, adds over a hundred kilometers of various American roads to the game, seamlessly integrated into a beautiful landscape. Regular highways, dirt roads for rallying, mountain trails, swampy areas, and even a separate racing track. In short, almost any real roads you might encounter in the States.
Beam Mountains
Here is a map focused on dangerous mountain roads surrounded by cliffs and high ledges. An ideal option for off-road or rally racing. The author intentionally uses almost no barriers or guardrails, so you can spectacularly fly off the track at high speed. Additionally, special ledges for jumping straight off the cliff have been added on particularly high turns.
Gavril Vertex NA2
The modification adds one of the most customizable cars to BeamNG.drive, based on the Ford Focus — Gavril Vertex NA2. With 1300 tuning parts, 10 engines to choose from, and 53 custom paint jobs, it already sounds impressive. But the author didn't stop there and implemented opening doors, lighting, an interactive interior, and deep engine customization. Now you can build a car to your liking and turn it into a racing bolide or a «black lightning» with wings.
Ibishu JBX100
Ibishu JBX100 is a new car in BeamNG.drive based on the 200bx. The mod is very similar to the old JDM D1 Pessima, but it places significant emphasis on customization and drifting. The author increased the wheelbase and redesigned the front suspension, so now the car performs excellently in turns. Additionally, he created many extra body kits to change the car's appearance.
To install this mod, you will need to take an unconventional route and place the vehicles folder from the archive in C:\Users\User\Documents\BeamNG.drive\vehicles. The mod requires an additional modification, the «D-Troxx Wheel Pack».
AW Astro
The modification adds a German car inspired by the iconic Volkswagen Golf to the game. 30 ready-made configurations, numerous tuning and appearance customization options, and two body variants: hatchback and convertible EU / USDM. The only significant downside of the mod is that the car doors do not open.
Satsuma 210 '58
The mod author was greatly impressed by the 1958 Datsun 1000 L210/L220 and decided to bring it to BeamNG.drive almost 1 to 1. Meet the Satsuma 210 '58, made according to real blueprints available in open access. The mod includes not only the car itself but also many configurations to choose from: two-door convertibles, four-door sedans, trucks, and pickups. Additionally, the author added 3 color palettes for the body, interior, and convertible top. Not to mention the detailed interior with luxurious finishing elements of that time.
VAZ-2101 Zhiguli 1979
And the last of the car mods is the much-loved VAZ-2101. In other words, the 1979 «Zhiguli». Probably one of the best examples of a Russian car in BeamNG.drive. The author added six ready-made configurations, detailed the model, created the interior, and made changeable body colors. Additionally, the car has realistic parameters that can be customized to your liking.
Me262
BeamNG.drive feels lacking in interesting and functional flying transport. So it's high time to introduce you to the Me262 fighter that participated in World War II. The mod author added five different configurations of the aircraft with working weapons and well-developed crash physics. The package includes many skins, jet engine simulation, and pilot animation in the cockpit.
Crash Test Dummy
How can you conduct car crash tests without a trusty assistant? The Crash Test Dummy mod adds a full-fledged human dummy to BeamNG.drive. With a weight of 75 kilograms, movable limbs, and no FPS drops, what could be better for testing in various conditions?
Toyota 7 1970
A small modification adds the old Toyota 7 racing car, specially designed for racing, to the game. If you are a fan of classic Japanese racing cars, you will love this mod. Unfortunately, the author released only one configuration of the car. But it comes with a couple of nice bonuses: the model has a rotating steering wheel and the mirrors reflect the game world.
LAZ-4202 Acapulco
Here is a well-crafted old-timer that can still sometimes be seen on Russian streets. The LAZ-4202 is a mid-size city bus that was produced back in the 70s. The modification includes five detailed configurations of the bus with a well-developed interior and exterior. The package includes animated dashboard, customizable paint, working mirrors, and headlights.
Mazda T2000
Rounding out our selection of the best mods for BeamNG.drive is an old three-wheeled truck straight from Japan. The mod author made only two configurations: with an open bed and without, and also added working headlights and mirrors. The result is a small, pleasant-to-drive, and somewhat amusing vehicle that will brighten up your gray days.
Mods not working, what to do?
If a modification causes lags, freezes, or other problems, there can be three reasons:
- The author didn't finish the mod, left bugs in it, or simply didn't update it;
- The modification breaks the game files by replacing some of them with its own;
- Several mods conflict with each other, causing errors and bugs.
There are only two solutions to such problems. The first one is to clear the game cache. To do this, deactivate the modifications, clear the cache, and then check if the bugs remain. Important: check without turning the mods back on.
The second option is a bit more complicated — check if there is a problem in Safe Mode. To do this, use the instructions written by the BeamNG.drive developers themselves.
