Tekken producer calls young fighting game players more irresponsible

The head of the Tekken series compared the older and younger generations of fighting game players, drawing an unexpected conclusion. According to him, younger gamers do not like to take on responsibility.

The head of the Tekken Katsuhiro Harada

In a recent episode of the Game Maker's Notebook podcast, when asked about the future of fighting games, Katsuhiro Harada stated the following:

But most young people nowadays are the opposite. They're rarely eager to engage in one-on-one showdowns. Plus, because figthing games pit you by yourself against a single opponent, you have to accept all the responsibility if you lose. You can't blame anyone else.

He noted that future fighting games will have to include more team competition because they appeal to a younger generation of players. For example, the Tekken series could introduce 3v3 matches for online mode.
