Rockstar Games Shuts Down Massive Liberty City Mod for GTA 5
A few weeks ago, the World Travel team released a large-scale mod for GTA 5 called the Liberty City Preservation Project, which added Liberty City from GTA 4 into the game. However, it was recently announced that this project has been shut down at the request of Rockstar Games.
It is reported that representatives from the company contacted the modders, and during the conversation, it was decided to close the modification. This was revealed on Discord by one of the project's creators, known as nkjellman.
The Liberty City Preservation Project mod included the entire playable city with a functioning subway system, radio stations from GTA 4, HD textures, a radar, police, road traffic, and NPCs.
It's worth noting that this is not the first time mods for the GTA series have been banned. For instance, in 2021 Take-Two Interactive (the parent company of Rockstar Games) prohibited the distribution of several mods for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
According to some gamers, the ban on the Liberty City Preservation Project could only be partially justified if Rockstar Games plans to release a full-fledged remaster of GTA 4 with an updated Liberty City.
