The Blood of Dawnwalker's Open World Will Be Similar to Gothic's Valley of Mines

Rebel Wolves, a studio that employs people from CD Projekt RED, has shared new information about its upcoming RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker. According to the developers, the open world will be made like the Valley of Mines from the cult Gothic.

Recall that the game's events will unfold in one of the regions of Eastern Europe in the 14th century, captured by vampires. The GRYOnline portal asked game designer Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was once responsible for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, whether players will be able to visit any other locations or countries. He said that the plot will focus on one valley, as it was in the legendary role-playing game from Piranha Bytes:

For us, the most important thing is the plot and emotions. In the trailer, we showed how a cabal of vampires overthrew the ruling king in this valley and seized power. By sending the hero on a journey through other regions and countries, we will not achieve the effect we are aiming for — to show what this world would look like under oppressive alien rule. This is a key element. I fondly remember Gothic, which also had a closed territory — we want to follow this path, because we believe that this way we will tell a more interesting story.
— Konrad Tomaszkiewicz

At the same time, Rebel Wolves expects The Blood of Dawnwalker to be the beginning of a large new saga. So in future parts, gamers will find completely new eras and locations.

Let us remind you that the game is being developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on the Unreal Engine 5. The project does not yet have a release date.

Earlier, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz told why he left CD Projekt RED and founded his own studio. Many details about the plot and gameplay of The Blood of Dawnwalker also appeared.
