Rumor: New Warhammer Fantasy RPG on Unreal Engine 5 Canceled by Games Workshop
According to rumors, Games Workshop has canceled an unannounced role-playing game set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, which was being developed by Thought Pennies, a studio founded in 2020.
The information was published by MP1st, who examined the LinkedIn profiles of Thought Pennies employees.
Reports indicate that the project had been in development for several years and initially progressed well. However, in 2024, the studio faced mass layoffs due to a strategic shift by an undisclosed publisher, which led to a lack of necessary funding for the game.
The rumor suggests that the project was being developed on Unreal Engine 5 for multiple platforms. It was expected to feature co-op, a third-person mode, PvE content, a combat system blending melee and ranged attacks, and unique characters.
Previously, we reported that Sony also canceled two unannounced games, one of which was related to the God of War series.
