Dragon's Dogma 2 is a new role-playing game from Capcom, and you might find yourself in need of extra experience points as you progress. Similar to the Dark Souls trilogy, you're allowed to rest at a bonfire to respawn monsters, enabling you to kill them again. This guide will discuss the best methods for farming experience in Dragon's Dogma 2 during the early stages of the game.
This advice might seem obvious. However, in Dragon's Dogma 2, story missions are among the easiest in the game. Often, you're not even required to fight anyone. Yet, you will gain a lot of experience from main quests. We recommend completing as many of Captain Brant's assignments as possible before going to the coronation.
Battling cyclopes will be a real challenge for you, especially at the beginning of your journey. However, you can use a trick. Get on a wagon in Melve or Vernworth, pay 100 gold coins, and set off. If you fast-forward time, you can sleep. There's a 50% chance a cyclops will attack you on the way. The guards escorting the caravan will easily defeat it. You'll gain experience, valuable items, and gold, which will more than cover the cost of the trip.
Dragons are even more formidable creatures than cyclops. However, there's an easy way to defeat one of them in the game. North of the first city lies the Ancient Battlefield. Run there, attract the dragon's attention, and return to the castle. Climb onto the wall and shoot the fire-breathing monster with a large ballista. A direct hit will injure it but not kill it. Therefore, move to the western side of the fortress, climb up, and make a shot with a small ballista. Then, return to the first weapon, which will have been reloaded by then. The third arrow will kill the dragon, and you'll gain experience and a multitude of valuable resources, including a Wakestone, which allows you to resurrect yourself or bring back to life fallen pawns. We've written more about this mechanic in a separate guide.
If you wish, you can focus on eliminating smaller monsters. For instance, you'll receive 624 experience points for each rock lizard you kill. We've indicated the location where they can be found on the map.
After all enemies have been defeated, rest near a bonfire and start the battle anew. If you feel strong enough, you can venture further up the path. There, a cyclops, minotaur, and chimera await you.
