How Day Differs from Night
Actually, it's quite simple. The game features a range of monsters that only appear at night. You won't encounter them during the day. Moreover, visibility decreases at night for obvious reasons, making it harder to navigate the terrain.
Why Travel at Night
Here, too, there's nothing unexpected. It's all about resources.
After fighting night monsters, you will receive slightly different resources. Most of them will be needed to upgrade your gear, but there will also be those necessary for quests. As much as you might want to travel only by daylight, sooner or later you'll have to delve into the darkness.
How to Survive the Night
The first thing that will help you feel a bit more comfortable is a lantern. It's easy to turn on, but there's a nuance — oil. When it runs out completely, the light will go out. So, it's worth taking care of this consumable in advance and stocking up in the city.
The second way to survive the night is to set up camp. This can be done at special points marked on the map with a campfire icon. At night, you can spot the smoke from the fire in the sky from afar, so they're not that hard to find. However, caution is advised here too. Your sleep might be disturbed by wandering undead, a pack of wolves, or something worse. Before going to sleep, make sure to clear the nearby area.
Another good piece of advice is to travel on roads. The chance of encountering a particularly strong enemy there is significantly lower than in the forest thickets. Moreover, you might come across a cart that can take you to the nearest settlement. Just be careful: if the cart is illuminated not by ordinary fire, but by a bluish light — it's a undead trap.
Finally, you can wait out the night in a city or settlement. All these places are well protected, so you don't need to worry about safety. If you don't have money for a hotel, you can simply doze off on any free bench.
