How to Enable Multiplayer in Elden Ring

First and foremost, to connect to cooperative play, the user must activate the corresponding feature in the settings. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In the main menu, go to Settings. You can also pause the game during play and open the corresponding menu.
  2. Open the Network tab.
  3. In the Launch Settings, switch to the Play Online option.

Also, in the settings, you can prohibit matching with players from other regions (Global Play), remove the hero's ability to move to worlds with opponents (Send Summon Sign), and enable voice chat.

How to Invite and Summon a Friend to Your World

For joint participation in cooperative battles, players must use special summoning items. The first player needs to use the Tarnished's Furled Finger and leave a mark on the ground. The second and subsequent users must reach this place, drink the Summoning Finger Remedy, and activate the found mark.

From this point, players can explore the world together and defeat enemies. Note that the effects of the elixirs will end after successfully completing a fight with a boss, so the above actions will have to be repeated.

How to Invade Another Player's World Without an Invitation. How to Fight Other Players in Elden Ring

The principle of summoning other players for PvP battles is very similar to joining a friend. A player must activate the Duelist's Furled Finger to leave a mark on the ground. If another user wants to fight online with another player, then after using the Summoning Finger Remedy, he can activate the found red summon sign.

There is also the Festering Bloody Finger, which allows a user to invade another's world uninvited and attempt to kill an unprepared player. Using the Small Red Effigy, the player must activate the nearest sanctuary. The character will place themselves in the general set of heroes and move to another hostile player at a random time.

What Are the Limitations in Co-op Play

It's important to note that there are some limitations in multiplayer. They are designed to balance the gameplay:

  1. Players cannot use a horse and summon helpers.
  2. The number of healing and mana potions is halved.
  3. Ordinary enemies will not attack invading users.
  4. Hostile players cannot pass through the mist and enter the boss arena. They will wait for the appearance of the current world's owner.

Moreover, the search for other players follows certain rules, taking into account the current level of heroes and the enhancements of the used weapons. This means a high-level player will never be able to connect to a newbie.

Also, an owner of upgraded weapons will not meet a user who is equipped with a starter sword, staff, or bow. In a joint game with a password, these restrictions do not apply, so more developed characters will have their characteristics reduced to the lowest level hero in the group.

How to Set a Password and Make Co-op Play Private

There is a separate setting that allows restricting access to the game world. With it, players can gather with friends in one place and organize joint PvP (player vs. player) and PvE (player vs. environment) battles. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Pause the game and open the Network Game menu.
  2. Press the corresponding button, for example, triangle on PlayStation, to go to the co-op mode settings.
  3. In the Password for network play section, enter any value and close the settings window. Other users must enter the same data.

Note that the restrictions on joining the world do not apply to invaders and rescuers. Also, keep in mind that a player can set passwords for several groups (Group Password) to see only their messages, phantoms, bloodstains, and summon signs more often.

What Items Are Needed for Co-op Play

In Elden Ring, numerous items have been added that players will need for using multiplayer. Almost all summoning items can be purchased from vendors or found in the game world. Each of them serves a specific function:

  1. Tarnished's Summoning Bell — allows you to see summon signs of allies and enemies.
  2. Furlcalling Finger Remedy — creates a summon sign on the ground for friendly cooperative play.
  3. Duelist's Furled Finger — creates a summon sign on the ground for player battles.
  4. Dried Finger — allows you to leave messages on the ground.
  5. Bloody Finger — required for invading another's world.
  6. White Cipher Ring — automatically sends a help signal to another player when invading. Purchased at the Roundtable Hold.
  7. Blue Cipher Ring — automatically summons help to another player when invading their world. Purchased at the Roundtable Hold.
  8. Taunter's Tongue — allows other players to invade the current world and reduces the time between summoning intervals.
  9. Finger Severer — returns the player or their allies back to their worlds.
  10. Small Golden Effigy — creates a summon sign for friendly cooperative play and places it in a common matchmaking group.
  11. Small Red Effigy — creates a summon sign for player battles and places it in a common matchmaking group.

How to Write Messages in Online Play

Throughout the game, in various parts of the Elden Ring world, users will notice various white inscriptions on the ground. In them, other adventurers from all over the planet leave hints about the surroundings and upcoming events.

Each player is able to place a message themselves. To do this, after entering the open world at the first Site of Grace, you need to talk to the man who will provide the initial multiplayer items. Among them, you will need to use the Dried Finger artifact:

  1. Go to the Inventory and find the aforementioned item.
  2. Activate it and in the Write Message tab, compose the appropriate text.
  3. Press finish to place the message.

Players are provided with a large set of templates, which can be used to create text suitable for the current situation.

How to Praise or Reproach a Player for a Message Left

Messages found can be praised or reproached at will. After reading, the player should press the corresponding Good or Bad buttons. If the message is behind and you don't want to go back to it, you can do the following steps:

  1. Open the Inventory.
  2. Find the item Dried Finger in the Tools section and use it. A Messages window will appear.
  3. Switch to the third tab, Read Messages.
  4. Locate the desired hint and press the approval or condemnation button as desired.

In the Messages window, you can see the current rating of the message. The game allows you to view the last ten entries at a time.
