How to Find and Use the Prayer Room Key in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

The Prayer Room Key is a key item in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring, used to unlock a specific door. However, its exact location is not immediately obvious, and some players may find it challenging to locate. In this guide, we will explain how to use the key and where the required door is located.

How to Get the Prayer Room Key

The key can be earned by defeating the Fire Knight Queelign twice. This opponent can be found near the grace in Belurat, the Tower Settlement, and the Church of the Crusade in Scadu Altus.

Where to Use the Prayer Room Key

Players who want to use the Prayer Room Key should first visit the Shadow Keep's Church District. This journey starts at the Moorth Ruins in Scadu Altus. Head southeast from the Site of Grace to find a ruined building with a tall tower.

Move along the northeastern side of this building, then descend into the chasm. There is a tunnel leading to a staircase — you will need to climb up this structure.

Upon reaching the top of the staircase, you will enter Bonny Village. Move east until you reach the bridge leading to the Village Site of Grace. From there, follow the road north (to the grace site on the Church District road), then continue moving northwest to reach the Church District in the Shadow Keep.

Note: Along this path, you will encounter one of the golems, though it is not necessary to fight it.

Proceed through the Church District of the Shadow Keep. The Church District is flooded, so time your jumps carefully to avoid instant drowning. Beware of the rotten corpses that will try to explode near you.

After activating the Site of Grace in the Church District, you need to jump onto the roof below it and proceed to its far side. Here, you should stand on one of the roof ledges and jump onto the wall ahead. Now, move to the far side of the wall, turn right, and use the ramp made of debris to reach the elevated ledge.

On the ledge, turn left and jump onto the roof ahead. Then turn left again, proceed to the far side of the roof, and jump onto the support on the left. This support will lead to a section of the roof with a hole, where you need to jump down to land on a stone arch.

Use the arch to reach the platform at the far end of the room, turn around, and descend to ground level. Here is the very door for which you need the Prayer Room Key.

What's Inside the Prayer Room?

Inside the Prayer Room, you will find the Fire Knight Queelign curled up on the ground, desperately praying to Marika. He will ignore you as you interact with him, continuing his prayers.

Your old foe, the Fire Knight Queelign, is not in the best shape when you see him in the Prayer Room

He seems to be in poor condition. You can either do nothing or place the Iris of Grace or Iris of Occultation on him if you have such items.

  • If you use the Iris of Grace, you will receive the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash;
  • If you use the Iris of Occultation, you will receive Queelign's Greatsword;
  • If you leave, he will remain in this place, allowing you to return later.

Using any iris on the knight will result in his death. The only difference (besides Queelign's reaction) is the reward you receive: either the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash or Queelign's Greatsword.

Also, note that using an iris on Queelign does not actually consume the iris, so you retain it after using it on him.

Where to Find the Iris of Occultation

You can find several Irises of Occultation within the Shadow Keep itself, as well as one in the Fort of Reprimand, which is located on the hidden second path in Scadu Altus.

Where to Find the Iris of Grace

There is only one Iris of Grace — it is also located within the Shadow Keep, at the end of the jar-filled area at the bottom of the lift on the first floor of the Storehouse tower.
