Where to Find Ranni the Witch in Elden Ring

In Elden Ring, players frequently encounter various characters, each with their own story to tell or new activities to start. The witch Ranni is no exception, and upon meeting her, you will be offered the chance to serve her. This guide will discuss what happens if you agree to become Ranni's assistant.

This witch first appears to the traveler at night in the Church of Elle, providing the player with a summoning bell for spirits and the first ashes of wolves.

After this encounter, the girl will disappear and relocate to her temple (Ranni's Rise), located in the northwest of the world near Caria Manor. Upon reaching this location, the witch will offer the traveler her service, but is it worth accepting?

There are no outright disadvantages to this choice, however, the game can change dramatically if you agree to serve Ranni. By disagreeing with her or passing by, the player will continue their journey as if nothing happened. Otherwise, one of the largest and most complex quest chains will be unlocked, during which the hero will meet many unusual characters. This choice can also be made later. The player can always return and agree to serve the girl.

After this, the Witch will send you to new additional areas, which are hard to find without her guidance. At this stage, the player loses nothing. The choice merely opens new areas for exploration.

There are several conditions under which you cannot serve Ranni. Firstly, the player must defeat General Radahn in Caelid or Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon at the Raya Lucaria Academy. After defeating these bosses, return to the girl. From this point, access to Ranni's quest chain will be available.

Now the hero can head to the city of Nokron and find the dungeon «Night's Sacred Ground.» Inside, a chest with a dagger will be found. It cannot be opened until Ranni's quest is activated. Return to the witch with the item to receive the Carian Inverted Statue. Proceed to the Carian Study Hall to the east of Ranni's temple. Use the acquired item on the table next to the globe and watch the cutscene. The tower will invert, allowing the traveler to access a new area.
