Why You Need Medusa's Head
The Gorgon Medusa's head is a special item that can turn enemies into stone. You then can smash them with one blow, ensuring their defeat. To acquire this artifact, you must defeat the Gorgon herself. Note that over time, the head will cease to function as an effective weapon. Therefore, you should periodically return to the boss to defeat her again.
Thus, in the game, there are two types of Gorgon heads:
- Preserved Medusa Head. Equip it in place of the lantern and swing it to turn enemies into stone. However, keep in mind that if it lies in your inventory, it will quickly deteriorate. We recommend storing the head in a chest or warehouse and only taking it with you when absolutely necessary.
- Decayed Medusa Head. It has no properties. It cannot be restored.
Where to Find (How to Find) Medusa Gorgon
Head to the Nera-Battal rift. We have marked the necessary point on the map.
Access to this location will only be granted after completing the story quest «People of the Blazing Flame». When searching for the cave with Medusa, look for petrified people as your guide.
How to Sever Medusa Gorgon's Head
To obtain Medusa's head from her body, it's not enough just to kill the monster. You need to deliver a powerful blow to the neck when the Gorgon has almost a full health bar. You will need a warrior with a heavy two-handed sword or a thief with daggers. Ideally, enhance the blade with electricity using magic. During the battle, a Softening Elixir, which removes the petrification effect, and Antidote for combating toxins will come in handy. You might also want to bring along a Stability Extract to avoid catching the disease. If you have a Ring of Mobility, equip it. It makes you immune to being turned into stone.
During the battle, it's crucial to climb onto Medusa's neck.
Do not use special skills, only strike with simple blade attacks.
Medusa will wriggle and try to throw you off. If you don't have the Ring of Mobility, beware of her gaze, which turns heroes into stone. At this moment, Gorgon's eyes will glow red. Try to hide behind a column.
It's important that allies don't deal too much damage to the boss, otherwise, you won't be able to sever the head. You can command pawns to wait at a distance from the Gorgon.
After a few missed strikes, Medusa will lower her head. At this moment, you need to make a decisive thrust with a sword or dagger, which will instantly kill her.
All that remains is to collect the loot from the monster's body. If among the items you find only a decayed head of the Gorgon instead of a preserved one — load the nearest save or wait 14 days. After two weeks, the fight with Medusa will be available again.
How to Earn the «Off With Her Head!» and «An Eye for an Eye» Achievements
If you manage to sever the monster's head, you'll earn the «Off With Her Head!» achievement. Place the trophy in a chest or warehouse and wait two weeks. Then, take the preserved head and return to the site of the battle with Medusa. Use petrification on her. To do this, hold the head in your hands, swing it, and look towards the Gorgon. When she turns to stone, you will be awarded the «An Eye for an Eye» achievement.
