A Veil of Gossamer Clouds: Dragon's Dogma 2 Walkthrough
In «A Veil of Gossamer Clouds» quest in Dragon's Dogma 2, the regent's son hands the protagonist a mysterious letter, tasking them with finding its intended recipient. This guide will lead you through the perilous journey to a secluded laboratory hidden in the mountains, providing essential tips on navigating dangers and solving the quest's mystery.
How to complete the quest A Veil of Gossamer Clouds
This quest is a direct continuation of The Ornate Box mission, where players meet Sven. If you have completed this minor mission and discovered the boy's main secret, a man will approach you outside the tavern after some time, asking to meet with Sven in his quarters.
Sven lives in the castle, and his room is located on the second floor next to the chancellery, where one of the main missions required you to retrieve a document for Captain Brant. Go up the spiral staircase, turn left, and at the end of the corridor, turn left again. Here will be the only door, behind which the boy waits.
He will hand over the unfinished letter of the regent and ask to find out who it was intended for and why.
How to examine the letter
You won't be able to read the letter in the inventory, and it's not clear where to go next. But if you have already completed The Caged Magistrate quest and freed Valdar, you can visit him in the underground library and ask about the letter. He will kindly share the information he has.
However, seeking Valdar is optional. It's not necessary if you follow our guide. We recommend not wasting time and heading straight to Bakbattal to the Flame Castle and descending into the Ambrosia laboratory. You might have been here during the main quests. But if you haven't reached it yet, we will tell you how to find the laboratory below.
How to get into the laboratory
The laboratory is located on the lower levels of the Flame Castle, near the city of Bakbattal. If you haven't visited this city as part of the story, we recommend leaving this task for later. First, you will have to complete a series of quests and obtain a pass to the city (a citizen's certificate); only after this, players can move freely around it.
Once you do this, run to the castle and turn left. Here will be a long tunnel leading to a spiral descent. Keep going forward until you reach a room with a dragon statue. Walk past it to trigger a cutscene.
You will overhear a conversation between Igli and Jerome, and then you can pick up a letter to Lord Faesus on the table in the room where these characters stand.
Return to Vernworth and hand over the paper to Sven. As a reward, you will receive a teleportation stone, 20,000 gold, and 4,000 experience points.
