Don't Play Alone

Lethal Company is specifically designed for cooperative play, where joint efforts are key to success. Unlike other games where you can level up your character and deal with bosses on your own, here you can at most complete a few quotas alone before you inevitably perish.

The game offers many unique mechanics for team actions, which are not available in solo mode. Therefore, before purchasing the game, make sure you have friends ready to join you as scrap collectors and explorers of abandoned moons.

But even if you don't have active friends, Lethal Company supports public servers that anyone can join. Finding Russian-speaking players won't be a problem, as there are currently a huge number of them in the game.

Which Moon to Choose for Exploration

Moons in Lethal Company act as separate planets, each with a single bunker. Its structure is randomly generated before each new arrival (creating a random seed), ensuring that no two bunkers are alike. The surfaces of the moons have their distinctive features. You can read more about each of them in this guide.

We recommend choosing the starting moon Experimentation, and also consider two additional planets with a low danger level: Assurance and Vow. However, the latter indicator does not mean that you will not encounter monsters both inside the bunkers and outside. In the early stages, it's best to farm loot on these moons, as this will not only help you stay afloat for a while and complete a few quotas, but also gain experience and become acquainted with the local inhabitants.

Before heading to a planet, pay attention to the weather conditions. Try not to land on a moon during an eclipse, storm, or flooding. In most cases, you won't manage to leave alive under these weather conditions. You can read more about the weather in Lethal Company here.

What Items to Buy First

In the beginning, you won't have the funds to purchase tools. We recommend completing the first quota without any equipment — in this case, you will be able to earn much more. It's all about the dynamic pricing system for scrap metal.

Once you complete the first quota, you can start selecting items. You will need the following:

  • Flashlight (at least one per group). You can take a powerful flashlight, as it shines much brighter and farther;
  • Radio (at least one per group);
  • Shovel.

A radio is necessary for communication with the player who stays on the ship and watches the others from the terminal, as well as directs them and helps in any way possible. We talked more about team interaction in the next section.

How to Explore Bunkers

First, you need to split into squads. If you are playing in pairs, then you will have to explore bunkers together at first, and on moons with higher difficulty levels, change the tactic. However, if you are playing with a group of four or more people, then the following advice is for you.

The tactic is as follows: one player stays on the ship, while the remaining gamers split into two groups to start exploring simultaneously from the main entrance and the fire exit. In this case, the chance to find many valuables is much higher than if all users went to only one entrance. This is especially relevant if you can split into groups of two.

Collect as many valuables as possible in the first few minutes, then immediately bring them to the ship. By the second entry, monsters will likely spawn, so you will need to comb through corridors and rooms in not the most pleasant company.

It's worth noting that, in addition to creepy monsters at the very beginning, you may encounter turrets and mines, so we advise not to relax. Playing without flashlights, constantly use the scanner (right mouse button) to slightly light your way and scan the terrain for enemies or loot.

Always carry at least one key to open locked doors. In most cases, you will find keys within the complex itself.

Another way to quickly farm valuables is the inversion teleport. It allows you to teleport to a random place in the bunker and quickly collect loot. However, finding the main entrance or fire exit is not always easy. This is because the device teleports the player without items, and some doors may be locked. In this case, you will have to look for keys. We do not recommend using it after 01:00, as by this time monsters will already appear in the bunker, and you are likely to end up near them.

How to Work with the Terminal, Open Doors, Disable Mines and Turrets

The terminal in Lethal Company is a whole world that you definitely need to explore. With its help, you can not only track your friends' movements through the bunker and warn them of impending danger, but also open doors, disable turrets, and even mines.

Opening doors, disabling mines, and turrets follow the same principle. You need to track the door or mechanism number (for example, C7), then enter it into the terminal. If one of the players is near the object, the door will open, and the turret or mine will be deactivated. The latter devices will turn off for a few seconds, so your friends must hurry past them. This is exactly why a radio, which we advised to get first, is necessary for coordinated actions.

Note: Doors often need to be not only opened but also closed to protect your teammates from pursuing monsters.

Who to Fear in Lethal Company

The game features more than 20 types of enemies, and the number has grown with the latest update. It's likely that this list will only expand. That's why newcomers should know how to deal with alien mutants in the early stages.

Mines and Turrets

The most dangerous enemies at the beginning of the game are mines and turrets. Machine guns can catch you right at the exit, and you simply won't have time to escape. Mines are a bit safer. However, while running away from monsters, you risk not noticing them and stepping on them, after which an explosion will occur.

We have a separate guide dedicated to turrets, but dealing with mines is much simpler. They emit a characteristic sound from time to time, as well as a light signal, so noticing them should not be a problem. Try to stay away and also remember their locations so you don't run into them while fleeing from a spider, flea, or another monster.

How to Escape from Chain Bees

Chain bees are cunning enemies in Lethal Company. They have two phases: calm and active. Calm bees can be found near hives. The insects become active after you try to take their hive. In rare cases, active bees appear on the map without a hive — they roam the moon in search of prey.

If you decide to take a hive, be prepared that one or several teammates will inevitably die, as escaping from active bees is practically impossible. Moreover, you will bring the loot to the ship, where flying enemies will try to infiltrate after some time. In the early stages, simply avoid the bees and do not experiment.

How to Jump Over Slime

Dangerous slime is found only in bunkers. It's not difficult to bypass it: find any railings or make a long jump if there's space for landing behind the slime. It's very slow, so it can't catch up with the player, but it will try to corner them.

How to Escape from Fleas

Unlike slime, fleas are much more cunning. They hide on walls and ceilings, and chase their prey to the end. If they manage to jump on a player, your teammates will have about ten seconds to kill the creature. But in doing so, they risk killing the teammate as well. It's best not to engage with the monsters at all — bypass them whenever possible, and if you've been spotted, run to the exit and don't stop.

How to Escape from a Spider

Hiding from a spider is harder than from the previous enemies. It usually targets one victim and will attack them until they are dead. You can slow it down using regular doors — close a door in the spider's path to buy some time.

How to Escape from Bracken

Bracken is dangerous only when you are unaware of its presence. If one of your teammates has already encountered it, further exploration of the complex will be straightforward.

To drive the creature away, look at it for a few seconds, but don't hold your gaze. If you look continuously, Bracken will start to attack. At that moment, quickly avert your gaze and then look again — the monster will likely retreat.

How to Escape from Blind Dogs

Huge blind dogs can't see anything, but they hear everything, even conversations on the microphone. They only inhabit the surface, as their size would physically prevent them from fitting in the bunker. When you spot a dog, crouch and head towards the ship. It's not advisable to throw objects or run when the monster is nearby. It's recommended to board the ship using a ladder only — jumping will likely attract its attention.

How to Escape from the Leviathan

This creature resides not on all moons, but can easily kill the entire team. It is always underground, and you can detect it only by distinctive sounds or track it on the terminal radar.

When you feel the ground tremble and hear a menacing growl — run in the opposite direction. If you run forward, it's not certain that you'll manage to leave the mutant's attack area. However, the leviathan constantly moves underground and can catch up with you at any moment.

Probably, these are all the monsters you will encounter while exploring the starting moons. More terrifying aliens inhabit the paid planets, so you definitely need to familiarize yourself with our bestiary before heading there.

When to Carry Loot to the Ship

The sooner, the better. The most reliable strategy would be not to pile up items at the exit or in front of the bunker entrance. Once you're loaded, head straight to the ship. If one of your teammates remains on the shuttle coordinating the other players via radio, even in case of everyone else's death, he can fly away and save all the found valuables. If all session participants die, the found loot, including that on the ship, will disappear. Thus, you simply lose one game day out of three.

When to Sell Loot

We recommend not to rush with selling scrap metal because, as already mentioned, the price for loot increases with each lived day. On the last day, it's much more profitable to sell all the found junk, which is why we advise one team member to always stay on the ship.

Should You Sell All the Loot

With each completed mission, the quota will increase, so in the later stages, it makes sense not to sell all the found scrap but to keep it on the ship. This way, you can gather the necessary amount faster.

Have Fun

Perhaps, this is the most important advice. The quota will increase indefinitely, so sooner or later, you will end up in space anyway. There's no need to sit with a gloomy face and devise roof-blowing strategies for looting bunkers. Enjoy the game, watching as monsters devour your friends!
