How to Tame Familiar Animals in Hades 2

What is Required to Unlock Familiars

You can meet future assistants almost immediately, but taming them is only possible after fulfilling a number of conditions. First, open the Forest Spring of Life in the cauldron. It adds a fountain to the forest location, which randomly appears during a run. If you find yourself in such a place, don't forget to pet the cat.

Over time, you will have the opportunity in the cauldron to create «Familiar Trust», skull-shaped cookies. For this, you need one lotus and two vials of nectar. The lotus sometimes randomly appears in the Ocean location. And nectar can be bought from the merchant for 30 bones; it also sometimes randomly drops on levels as a reward.

The recipe itself becomes available when you defeat the siren music group (the second boss) and also gain access to an alternative route to the surface. Around this time, the gifts of Hermes become available.

How to Find Pets and What They Do

So far in Hades 2, there are only two familiars. Phrinos, a green amphibian, will always wait for you on a stone at the return point after completing a run. The cat Tola, however, is not as constant. Initially, she will wait for you in the first forest location, in the fountain area. But after opening the alternative path to the surface, she can be found just above the dock, which opens after defeating the cyclops.

Each pet has a unique set of features. They can be upgraded by giving them treats. These are created in the cauldron and require time to prepare. You can treat a pet to enhance it by approaching it in the location where all your weapons and tools are (before heading out on a run).

Cat Tola:

Heart Connection — after death, it revives you once with 10 health points. After upgrading, the amount of health received increases to 20, then 30;
Unity of Souls — the cat can catch one fish per run. After upgrading the ability, the amount of fish that can be caught increases to 2, then to 3;
Brotherhood of Claw — if you run/dash through the cat, it will rush to the nearest enemy and hit it once (99 damage), after which it loses interest in the fight. The number of scratches can be increased to 2, then to 3.

Frog Phrinos:

Unity of Soul — can catch one spirit per run. After upgrading, the number increases to two, then to three per run;
Unity of Lives — gives the heroine a passive health bonus of 20 points. After upgrading, the amount increases to 30, then 40;
Unity of Strength — can jump on an enemy and deal 10 damage. After upgrading, the amount of damage increases to 20, then to 30.
