How to Decrypt the Floppy Disk in Operation Chaos in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there are several side missions you can complete between main story missions, and Operation Chaos is one of them. In this mission, you need to eliminate a former CIA operative and his growing spy network. You cannot obtain the necessary information about the spy network without decrypting the floppy disk containing important secrets. This floppy disk contains a complex code that needs to be cracked. Here's how to decrypt the floppy disk for Operation Chaos.
What Evidence is Needed for Operation Chaos?
You will need the following evidence to successfully decrypt the floppy disk for Operation Chaos:
- Front Page of the Observer (Redlight, Greenlight);
- A Coded Message (Capture Qasim Javadia in first mission Nowhere to Run);
- Numbers Station Broadcast (Brick in the Wall).
If you missed any of the evidence listed above, replay the specified mission and find the clues. Once you have all three, it's time to solve the puzzle.
How to Decrypt the Floppy Disk
To start solving the puzzle, examine the coded message. Numbers and two question marks will appear, which you will need to fill in. The red and blue numbers correspond to a pattern that you must use to determine which numbers are missing. Everyone has different numbers and patterns, so you will need to do some calculations. In this case, the red numbers increased by +6 each time, changing the value from 28 to 34, 40, and so on. The blue numbers increased by a larger number each time, adding 1 to the first number, 2 to the second number, 3 to the third number, and so on. Keep in mind that the patterns and numbers in your playthrough will be slightly different.
After you have calculated the missing numbers, add them together to get a four-digit sequence. Using this four-digit code, check the Numbers Station Broadcast. Find which city corresponds to your numbers. This is the code phrase that the computer will ask you for later.
Then examine the front page of the Observer newspaper. In the headline, there will be a random group of letters highlighted in red. This is actually an encrypted word that will give you the next clue. Examine the Numbers Station broadcast. There is a list of locations, and the scrambled red letters on the front page of the Observer can be rearranged into the name of one of these locations. For example, if the letters INTUSA are highlighted in red, they can be rearranged to spell AUSTIN. Each player will have their own location name, so you will need to solve the puzzle yourself.
Once you have deciphered the city name, check the Numbers Station broadcast again. This time, find the four numbers that correspond to the name of your city. These four digits are the code that the computer will ask you for.
Once you have solved both puzzles, it is time to decrypt the floppy disk. Select Decrypt Floppy Disk and enter the code and passphrase that you obtained from the puzzles above. If everything is done correctly, you will crack it and obtain the information needed for Operation Chaos.
