How to Liberate a Village in Bellwright

In Bellwright, players encounter various hostile characters that can pose a threat to settlements. One of the key aspects of the game is liberating villages from the occupation of bandits and robbers. In this article, we will look at the process of liberating neutral villages and explain where to start.

How to Liberate a Village in Bellwright

Liberating a village in Bellwright is a key aspect of the game that allows gamers to rid settlements of the control of bandits and robbers. The process consists of several stages:

  • Increasing trust in the town: To start the liberation process, your trust in the village must be high enough.
  • Talking to the elder: After reaching the necessary level of trust, talk to the village elder to initiate a dialogue about liberation.
  • Eliminating the bandit guards: Once you agree to liberate the town, all occupiers become hostile, and you will have to eliminate them.
  • Building the village belfry: After defeating the guards, build the village belfry.
  • Defending the belfry: Defend the belfry from the first wave of attackers to successfully complete the village liberation process.

After completing all these actions, the village will be successfully liberated, and you will be able to trade with it through the world map and hire all special townspeople. Let's take a closer look at some of the steps.

How to Increase Village Trust

To increase village trust, start by talking to the village elder. Initially, he will tell you to leave as he does not want to risk talking to you. But over time, as you talk to ordinary residents and complete random tasks, such as setting traps or hunting wolves that terrorize the villagers, the Elder's trust will grow.

Once you befriend the village, additional quests will become available. You can check the notice board with available quests near the village elder or roam the town streets in search of any NPC with a question mark above their head. This icon indicates that the character has a quest for you.

You will notice that most of these quests are fairly simple to complete. They are usually various small errands: find a certain amount of resources, cook some meat, or help find another NPC to talk to on behalf of the quest giver.

Additionally, when you find unique items in the game, such as old coins and wolf fangs, you can bring them to the village elder. Talk to them, tell the Elder that you want to show them something special, and then continue the dialogue. Eventually, the game will open a trader window with the village elder, where you can sell unique items in exchange for village trust.

How to Build a Village Belfry

Village Belfry is one of the village upgrades that can be built in neutral villages. It increases village trust by 500 points and initiates the liberation of the settlement.

After the belfry construction is completed, a large number of bandits will be sent from their camp to regain control over the settlement. Only after you defeat each of them will you be able to liberate the village.

We strongly recommend that you complete the belfry research and stock up on resources for its construction. The time during the belfry construction can be the most difficult part of the liberation process. Until you finish building the structure, you will be constantly attacked by both bandits and robbers. Unlike bandits, who will go after your treasure, robbers will head for the village. If one of them reaches the village, the uprising has failed, and you will have to rebuild trust with the town.

Robbers are no joke either: unlike bandits, they are fully equipped with second-level armor and weapons.
