How to Build Your Own House and Establish a Settlement in Bellwright

In Bellwright, gamers will embark on an exciting journey to liberate the people of Lowland and transform their camp into a powerful nation. To do this, you will need to earn the trust of the locals and win them over to your side. The journey begins with creating a small base outside of Heardin. As you progress, you will expand your territory and set up various buildings. However, the lack of in-game tutorials might be challenging for newcomers. This guide will help you build your own house and establish a settlement.

How to Find Wood

Gathering resources is a crucial part of the gameplay in Bellwright. One of the first resources needed for survival is wood: it will be required to build your personal hut and tents for settlers. Wood can be obtained in several ways, but at the beginning of the game, players' options will be limited as they start without weapons and tools such as an axe or pickaxe.

But don't worry, as you can collect sticks in the open world without additional tools. Simply explore the area under large trees and find sticks lying on the ground. Just interact with them to place the branches in your inventory. This process might seem tedious, but the large forests around the starting village of Heardin will provide you with a huge amount of necessary resources.

There is another effective way to get wood: chopping down young trees. But for this, you will need to craft an axe, so the scattered branches on the ground will have to be collected anyway.

How to Make an Axe

Fortunately, crafting an axe in Bellwright is a quick and simple process that can be done directly from your inventory. To create the tool, you will need 6 units of wood and 2 stones. We have already explained how to gather branches above, but regular stones are collected in the same way. Just inspect the ground for these items, but they most often appear on elevations.

Once you have enough wood and stones, you can proceed to create the axe:

  • Open the inventory using the I key;
  • Find the Simple Axe in the Quick Crafting section under the backpack interface;
  • Hover over the axe icon and hold LMB to create it;
  • Once the process is complete, the tool will be added to your backpack.

How to Find Flax

Flax is a very useful and common resource, but at first, you might simply overlook it. As we already recommended in the general game guide, make sure to collect such plants and store them at your base. They look like small blue flowers. It's challenging to find flax in dense forests, so instead, inspect fields and meadows, as well as other areas where trees do not grow.

The largest amount of flax can be found in the fields southwest of the village of Heardin. This place is ideal for setting up a base for several reasons. First, it is surrounded by jungles where you can gather wood. Second, the fields are abundant with flax and sage, which are necessary for collection. And finally, the proximity to the village reduces the time required to complete initial quests, making this spot particularly convenient for starting the game.

How to Build a Personal Hut

To craft a personal hut, you will need to gather 10 units of wood and 6 units of flax. Open the building menu by pressing the B key on the keyboard and go to the Management section. There, select Personal Hut and press F to start placing the holographic version of this object. Once you have placed all the necessary resources, the hut will be created.

In the future, with the help of the research table, you will be able to upgrade your hut to a Village Hall and Town Hall. However, this will require a lot of time and effort.
