How to Defeat Fire Golems in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Add-ons for FromSoftware games offer increased difficulty challenges. Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring is no exception. Difficulties in this DLC can be created not only by bosses but also by regular mobs. If you can't defeat the fire golems, use our guide.
Where to Find Fire Golems in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
You will encounter these monsters at the very beginning of the DLC, in the Grave Plain. Later, they will also appear in other locations. We have marked the locations of all eight golems on the map.
Technically, fire golems are not bosses, but they can surpass some bosses in strength. You can attack them in open combat, but it's better to use cunning. More details on how to quickly deal with them are provided below.
How to Defeat Fire Golems in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
In FromSoftware games, there are sometimes bosses that require special weapons to defeat. This was the case with the Storm King in Demon's Souls and Yhorm the Giant in Dark Souls 3. A similar mechanic is used with fire golems. You need large furnace and fire cauldrons.
Keep in mind that golems will spot you from a long distance and will shoot fire spheres, and when you get closer, they will start jumping and igniting the ground beneath them. Try to dodge such attacks. Use ashes to summon an ally who will distract the monster. Mimic Tear will allow you to create a duplicate with the same defense and health bar as you. Ashes that summon multiple fighters are useless here, as the first area attack will kill them all.
If the golem has no armor on its legs, throw fire or furnace cauldrons at them. As a result, it will not only take damage but also fall with some chance, making it completely vulnerable for a short time. Note that for armored mobs, you need to aim at the head.
In addition to cauldrons, you can use arrows or spells. But in this case, it will take quite a lot of time to defeat the enemy.
How to Get Fire and Furnace Cauldrons in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
First, you will need the blueprints for these items. To craft a fire cauldron, find the Great Lord's Cookbook (1). Refer to our map.
You should see several shadows guarding a corpse. Defeat the enemies and search the body. You will take the book with the blueprint from it.
To craft a furnace cauldron, you need the Great Lord's Cookbook (2). It is located in the Grave Plain, near the first fire golem. Run past it and activate the grace site called the Three-Way Cross. From there, head northeast, turn onto the path near the bridge, and follow it until you reach the Worn Traveler's Asylum. There you will find the guide you need.
After that, you need to find the ingredients. Red mushrooms are found everywhere, but black mushrooms are much rarer. You can use the alley on the first floor of the Scorched Ruins. They respawn there every time you rest at a Grace Site.
But the hardest to find will be cracked pots. From the Three-Way Cross Grace Site, head northwest. Cross the lake and run to the Belurat Prison. You need to find a hole in the ground and carefully descend down the beams. On the wooden platform, you will notice the first pot. You will find a few more items further on if you go ahead and fall down into the maze area. Here you need to run northwest, where you will find two more pots.
To craft furnace cauldrons, you will also need Mesmer's Coal. You will get it for killing fire golems and blazing dogs.
What Rewards Can You Get for Defeating Fire Golems
You will be given Crystal Tears, which improve the flask with healing potion, and Mesmer's Coal. This resource is necessary for crafting furnace cauldrons. With their help, you will be able to kill even more similar enemies.
