In Once Human, there are many unique creatures known as Deviants that can be found in the game's world. But understanding which creatures are the most useful and which ones are better left in their natural habitat is not always easy. In this guide, we will tell you about the best Deviants available in Once Human.
Deviants are unusual, interesting, and sometimes frightening creatures that you can encounter and capture while exploring the world of Once Human. Unlike creatures from the same Palworld, the critters in this game are much rarer and harder to find. Some of them are tied to specific zones, while others you get with a small chance by defeating specific bosses. Below are the most effective Deviants in the game.
The Gingerbread House is one of the most remarkable deviants in the game Once Human. This creature does not have active effects that you can apply while exploring the world. The Deviant's abilities also won't be of much use to your base. However, the creature produces a unique resource — cracker crumbs, which, when combined with glass and acid, turn into a transformation cookie.
It can be found in the area located south of the city of Sunbury. Use the map above to find one of these helper types.
This unusual cookie allows the player to transform into an object that adapts to the environment. For example, in the forest, you can turn into a small tree, making you almost invisible and perfect for ambushes in PvP. The transformation lasts long enough and allows you to move and jump while remaining in this form. But keep in mind that any other actions interrupt the transformation.
The Butterfly's Emissary is the first Deviant you will get right after completing the tutorial in the game. This blood-red butterfly belongs to the combat types of deviants and can provide significant help in battles thanks to its simple but effective abilities. First of all, you can set a target for it. After this, the Butterfly will periodically strike, dealing substantial damage and highlighting the target's weak spot.
If you manage to attack this highlighted weak spot within five seconds while it is active, your damage will increase by 25%. Thanks to such a useful skill, the Butterfly's Emissary becomes an indispensable helper in boss battles, especially when you have powerful firearms that work well with its abilities.
Festering Gel is a combat Deviant, like the Butterfly's Emissary, but its assistance in battles is a bit different. The creature has defensive abilities and, when activated, creates a wall about chest-high, behind which you can take cover and fire at enemies.
This wall also has an additional advantage: it heals the hero by 4% health and 2% sanity every second. Such healing will save you a lot of time and resources, especially if you frequently use healing items like the Activator or Sanity Gummies. Moreover, with its unique ability, you can throw the creature: it pushes enemies away and then creates a wall behind which you can take cover and recover. However, keep in mind that the time spent aiming Festering Gel reduces its overall duration.
The Paper Figure may not seem very useful, but it actually has unique abilities. This little helper runs around your base and has a chance to find items on the corpses of deviant monsters you kill around your base. While this is useful in itself, the main advantage of the Paper Figure is its ability to automatically restore your Star Dust Resonance Filter, as well as the walls and floors of your base.
This feature allows you to save a significant amount of materials that you usually spend on repairs after attacks by other Meta-humans or deviant monsters. The second half of Once Human seasons, when PvP becomes the main focus, makes the Paper Figure especially valuable. You can find it while completing the «House of the War God» quest in Citrus County. To do this, you will need to use the «Respect» emote in front of it to activate its abilities.
Digby Boy will become one of your favorite Deviants thanks to the huge time savings on resource gathering. Its main task is to go out and gather resources instead of the player, but this ability becomes available after its strength reaches the required level. Depending on the location of your base, Digby Boy will collect all available nearby resources and store them until you collect the gathered materials.
If you collect its mineral loot at least once a day, you can get from 100 to 200 ores of various types. Of course, you are free to collect resources at any convenient time, but having at least one or two such Deviants will ensure you have enough resources, allowing you to completely avoid manual resource gathering.
In addition to obtaining Digby Boy by completing certain tasks, you can also find him on your own with some chance while mining minerals.
The Logging Beaver is a Deviant similar to the previous one, as it also stays at the base and helps you gather necessary resources. However, this creature is only involved in collecting wood, and it does so at any time: whether you are on an outing, at the base, or even offline. The only condition is that its strength and mood must be at a high level. Even one such helper can provide you with several hundred units of wood, which you won't have to gather manually. Remember that wood is an important resource used in many crafting recipes and in building your home.
To find the beaver, head southwest of Harborside, where you will find several docks. The landmark will be a merchant selling fishing bait. Going down a few steps, you are likely to meet the Deviant. If it is not there, we advise you to go to the Teleportation Tower and change worlds until you find one where other players have not yet caught this Deviant.
