Black Myth: Wukong is a soulslike game based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. The game is breaking sales records and receiving excellent reviews from users on Steam. However, many of them encounter difficulties with the game's basic features. In this guide, we will explain how to make manual saves in Black Myth: Wukong.
The main menu of Black Myth: Wukong does not have a manual save function; it is done automatically. If you have played Dark Souls, Elden Ring, or other FromSoftware projects, you might think that your progress will be saved at the moment you exit the game. However, this is not the case. Autosaves occur at strictly defined moments. Therefore, if you abruptly interrupt your playthrough, there is a risk that some data may not be saved.
If you rest near a shrine, your progress will be saved automatically. Therefore, before exiting the game, it is advisable to rest near a fast travel point. In this case, when you next start the game, you will begin from that moment.
Unfortunately, this option is not available in the game. A new autosave overwrites the previous one, so you cannot return to an earlier save. However, if you start a new game, the file from the first playthrough will not be deleted.
The save files are located at C:\Steam\steamapps\common\BlackMythWukong\b1\Saved\SaveGames\[Your Steam ID].
You can find your Steam ID in the upper right corner of the application by clicking on the profile icon and selecting «Account Details.» The unique identifier consists of 17 digits and is located right under your nickname.
