Guide to Endings in Black Myth: Wukong. How to Unlock the Secret Finale
Black Myth: Wukong is a rather lengthy game. It has a lot of content and a total of six chapters. The developers encourage exploration and secret hunting, so they have prepared a second true ending for those who can thoroughly explore the game. However, the conditions for obtaining it are not the most obvious, so we have prepared a guide on how to unlock the standard and enhanced finales and what it will take to do so.
How to Get the Standard Ending
The main plot of Black Myth: Wukong revolves around the search for Sun Wukong's relics. There are six in total, as many as there are levels. To get the standard ending, you just need to defeat all the bosses at the end of the chapters. You don't need to look for secrets and hidden equipment; what is given through the story will suffice.
How to Unlock the Hidden Ending
But here, things get much more complicated. First, you will need to find and explore all the hidden locations. There are four in total, and each has individual unlocking conditions. Plus, in the secret locations, there are secret bosses waiting, sometimes multiple, that you will need to defeat. The locations are hidden in chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5. We have a guide on how to unlock access, so we won't go into detail here. We will just say that in the first chapter, you will need to find three bells, in the second, help a drunken boar, in the fourth, defeat a special boss twice, and in the fifth, help a bull.
However, that's not all you need to do. In the third chapter, there is no secret location, but there will be a Treasure Hunter quest that you must complete. You can find him on the northern shore of Bitter Lake. From the shrine, turn 180 degrees and follow the shoreline. Eventually, you will reach a temple where the Hunter is being attacked by enemies. If you have progressed far in the story, the NPC might not be in the temple — this is not a problem.
Talk to the Hunter, or if he is not there, go to the From the Forest of Happiness altar. There will be gates; pass through them and keep to the left. You should reach the Tower of Karma shrine. The Hunter will be sitting in a tree there. Talk to him and activate the Ring of Fire spell. A cutscene will immediately start, after which you need to talk to the NPC to the limit once more.
Now we are looking for the Melon Field. Start again near the From the Forest of Happiness shrine, but do not go through the gates. To the right of them, there is a slope you can descend. At the bottom, there will be a flooded area. In the right corner on the rocks are three enemies. Defeat them and you will be able to descend to the Melon Field shrine. Nearby, there should be a large Buddha statue. As soon as you approach it, a cutscene and a fight with the hunter will start. Make sure to defeat him.
If you have met all the conditions and unlocked everything, return to the location of the third chapter to the Pagoda Kingdom, Snowy Path shrine. On the left, you can find a wooden bridge; descend it and go to the end. At the end of the path, find the little monk who has already appeared in the Treasure Hunter questline. Watch the cutscene and gain access to the area called Mount Mei. Proceed a little further to find the secret final boss Erlang, the Sacred Deity. This is the toughest boss in the game, but defeating him grants access to the new game finale.
