The exoskeleton is one of the most powerful and rare pieces of equipment in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It provides excellent protection and increases carrying capacity, allowing you to carry more gear. This heavy suit is also equipped with a built-in helmet for additional protection. However, finding an exoskeleton in the game is not easy — it can only be obtained under certain conditions. In this guide, we will explain how to acquire an exoskeleton for free at the start of the game and use its advantages in the Zone.
This armor provides a high level of protection against all elements and surpasses most types of armor, except the most powerful ones in the later stages of the game or other exoskeletons available closer to the end. However, this set has one significant drawback — it is extremely heavy, which greatly limits your ability to sprint. Thus, the exoskeleton becomes truly useful only in the most challenging combat situations in the Zone. Remember, you can always remove the armor for easier movement and then put the exoskeleton back on before a decisive shootout.
The suit itself can be found in the Cooling Tower area, north of the concrete plant, in one of the large buildings.
Outside the building, find a ladder leading up to an open doorway. You can also use the long ladder located in the floor. Both paths will lead you to high bridges. Cross them and head to an additional ladder in the back corner. This ladder will take you to a higher point of the building. Climb up, and you will find yourself in a small area with a stash where you will find useful items and the Cuirass exoskeleton suit.
The main floor of the assembly block building is a combat arena where two factions clash. You can often encounter Monolith fighters below, but fighting them is not necessary. You can safely ascend, ignoring their attacks. This armor is worth collecting in the early stages of the game as it provides excellent damage protection. Additionally, the exoskeleton has a high value — 97,430 coupons in its standard configuration, which allows you to earn at the beginning of the game.
This region will become available after completing all the initial quests of the Small Zone. Head northeast from the Junkyard to the Cement Plant, located north of the Wild Island. Here you will be able to reach the faction base guarding the entrance to the Cooling Tower. A bridge is provided for exploring the region, but the faction allows loners to move through their territory to explore this area.
