Fortnite The Getaway Mode: How to Play and Win

The Getaway is a limited-time mode in Fortnite, where teams set out on a quick and daring heist. You need to obtain one of the four crystal llamas and then escape the island in one of the three vans. Here's how to do it.
To select The Getaway mode in Fortnite, go to the main lobby menu, enter Discover, choose "The Getaway," and click "Play." Additionally, you can quickly find the mode using the search bar in the upper left corner of the lobby menu — just type "The Getaway" and start the game from there.
How to Play The Getaway Mode
This mode can only be played in pairs or squads, so solo players and trios are out of luck. Unlike traditional matches, where victory is determined by the last surviving team, "The Getaway" focuses on strategy, teamwork, and risk.
Jewels, also known as Crystal Llamas, are the main objective of this mode. These items are located in locked safes that fall from the sky in four marked locations on the map. Opening a safe takes time, making you vulnerable to enemy attacks. When the safe lands, interact with it to open it. If every team member interacts with the safe, it will open much faster. After cracking the safe, it will open with loot and the most important prize: a jewel shaped like a llama. A team member must pick it up and hold onto it until the end of the match.
When the game starts, it will look like a regular "Battle Royale" match. Players jump out of the battle bus onto the map and run around looking for weapons and gear. When players are knocked out, they can be revived at a Reboot Van, just like in a regular match, but when the entire team is eliminated, it's game over.
The first three teams to reach the van with a llama will win the game, but you can also achieve victory by simply eliminating all enemy teams. Carrying a llama will slow you down by ten percent, making you an easier target for enemy squads. Additionally, whenever you pick up a llama, its location becomes visible to all players on the map for 30 seconds, complicating the escape task.
The safe icon will glow blue when the player's team has a jewel and red when an enemy team holds it. If the llama is lost in the storm, a new supply drop will bring a replacement, ensuring there is always a chance to complete the objective.
Vans will also be marked on the map, but they won't arrive until the timer on the right side of the screen appears and reaches zero. Initially, there will be two vans, and then after a while, the final van will appear. When a team reaches the van's location, the player holding the jewel must interact with it. If enemy teams use all the vans, the match is considered lost. As long as players can activate the van with the jewel, they will be able to exit the match, leading to victory.
You will also earn valuable experience, which will help you level up and earn new rewards in the Battle Pass.
