THR: District 9 Filmmaker to Direct New Starship Troopers

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Neill Blomkamp is ready to take on a new adaptation of Starship Troopers. The film will not be a remake of the 1997 film, but will adapt the original book.

Recall that the first film based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein belongs to director Paul Verhoeven. However, Columbia Pictures now intends to update the franchise and make a modern adaptation of the book, entrusting the film to Neill Blomkamp. Many viewers may know the director from such films as District 9 and Chappie.

The premiere date of the new Starship Troopers has not yet been announced.

Earlier, we reported when the new film based on Resident Evil will be released. Zach Cregger has been appointed director, and the film itself will focus on horror elements.
