Media: Take-Two intends to close the indie publishing house Private Division
According to IGN, Take-Two intends to get rid of the Private Division, which published games from independent studios. It can either be sold or closed completely.
According to the publication, layoffs of employees began at the end of April. There are only small teams left to support the released games — No Rest for the Wicked from Moon Studios, Tales of the Shire from Wētā Workshop and an unnamed Game Freak project. The company also terminated the contract to publish two untitled projects from Bloober Team (developer of the remake of Silent Hill 2) and One More Level (authors of Ghostrunner). Additionally, Intercept Games (Kerbal Space Program 2) and Roll7 (OlliOlli World) will disband in June.
According to IGN, many employees accused Take-Two management of disorganization and mismanagement. In particular, the publisher set unattainable goals and forced them to release games in a raw state (like Kerbal Space Program 2).
Let us remember that in addition to the above projects, Private Division published Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey and The Outer Worlds.
Take-Two itself has not yet confirmed the veracity of IGN's information.
Let us recall that back in April the company announced the dismissal of 5% of its employees.
