Another Secret About Geralt Uncovered in The Witcher 3. CDPR Responds
Blogger xLetalis, known for revealing The Witcher 3's «final secret,» has uncovered yet another hidden Easter egg! By exploring the game's cut files (which can be accessed with the Brothers in Arms mod), he found a humorous line that never made it into the final version.
The secret is linked to the quest «The King is Dead — Long Live the King,» where Geralt battles enchanted animal statues brought to life by a toxin. In the regular version, Geralt defeats the creatures, and Yennefer wakes him, explaining it was a hallucination. If Geralt dies in the fight, the game restarts as usual.
However, an early version of the game included an alternate scene for Geralt's death. In this unused dialogue, Geralt genuinely believes he's been killed.
Yennefer: Get up, Geralt! Hear me?!
Geralt: I can't... I'm dead. They killed me.
Yennefer: It was a needle coated with a toxin. It pricked you when you tried to open the door.
Pawel Sasko, one of the quest designers for The Witcher 3, reacted to xLetalis' find. «Oh, glad to see it was found. I made it in 2014, took you a while » wrote Sasko.
