Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to release on the anniversary of a tragic event in Japan
Ubisoft just can't catch a break with Assassin's Creed: Shadows. The game barely escapes one scandal only to fall into another. Yesterday, Ubisoft announced the release date has been moved to March 20, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Tokyo subway attack.
Users on social media platform X were quick to notice the date overlap. The most popular post, shared by @Vara_Dark, garnered 40,000 views. Some have remarked that releasing the game on such a day is as inappropriate as if Microsoft Flight Simulator were released on September 11.

I would say it's a coincidence but when ubisoft attempted to try release that one legged tori gate figurine I just don't know anymore

That feels like a really weird coincidence.

So this would be like Microsoft releasing their flight simulator on 9/11.. seems a bit intentional, no?

Prior to this, Assassin's Creed: Shadows faced criticism for historical inaccuracies and featuring a Black protagonist. The game was initially slated for a November release, but due to the controversies and poor sales of Star Wars Outlaws, it was postponed.
