Rumor: Details Emerge on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake

Possible details for the unannounced remake of TES 4: Oblivion have emerged online. The information comes from a former employee of Virtuos, the studio reportedly working on the project with Bethesda.

Alleged features of the Oblivion remake include:

  • Development on Unreal Engine 5;
  • A significant overhaul of the blocking mechanic (inspired by Souls-like games);
  • Changes to the stamina system to reduce knockouts;
  • Improved and modernized archery mechanics;
  • Enhanced reaction to attacks (both for the main character and NPCs);
  • A redesigned interface to be more user-friendly for modern players;
  • Improved stealth mechanics and modified damage calculation methods.

According to the rumors, the remake is slated for a 2025 release. The project is also expected to be announced during the Xbox Developer_Direct presentation scheduled for January 23rd. Officially, only three games are confirmed to be shown at the event – Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and South of Midnight.
