Ubisoft Removes Yasuke From Assassin's Creed: Shadows Pre-Order Banner

It seems that Ubisoft decided that they were betting on the wrong character. Users noticed that the company removed the dark-skinned samurai Yasuke from the Assassin's Creed: Shadows pre-order page.

The first to notice the change were players from the Neogaf forum. If earlier the banner depicted Yasuke and Naoe together, now when visiting the Ubisoft website you can only see the shinobi girl. Both characters are supposed to play equal roles in the future stealth action, but now they decided to build a marketing campaign only around Naoe.

Earlier, Ubisoft had already adjusted the description of Yasuke on the Assassin's Creed: Shadows page on Steam for the Japanese audience. If before this the hero was called a «samurai», now he bears the title of «a warrior capable of facing a thousand enemies». Presumably, the studio tried to appease Japanese players who did not appreciate the character.

Recall that Assassin's Creed: Shadows is released on March 20 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The action will take place in 16th century Japan during the Sengoku period, where gamers will have to play as two heroes at once with their own unique abilities and different gameplay mechanics.

Ubisoft recently showed off the latest gameplay of Assassin's Creed: Shadows and released a story trailer. In addition, system requirements have appeared.
