Players Find Another Reason to Criticize Assassin's Creed: Shadows — Unrealistic Watermelons
Agriculture in Assassin's Creed: Shadows has once again become a subject of debate. Players previously criticized the depiction of ripe persimmons in spring, and now they have shifted their focus to watermelons.
A user on social media platform X, known by the handle @bunburyoudoujp, spotted a screenshot from a recent demo and noticed that the in-game seasons do not quite align with reality. The image showed cherry blossoms in full bloom alongside gigantic watermelons, which typically ripen much later in the year.
The post highlighting this amusing observation garnered 7 million views. Some players also pointed out that during that historical period, Japanese farmers cultivated different types of watermelons—much smaller ones without such vivid patterns. According to @bunburyoudoujp, these springtime watermelons look just as out of place as snowmen on a beach.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to release for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. According to a recent rumor, the game will also be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2.
